Privacy Policy

HomeAnvil connects homeowners with home-services contractors. When you ask for a quote, we pass your request to a contractor, and that is a sale of your request details to that contractor. This page says what we collect, who gets it, and how to stop it.

What we collect

• What you give us: your name, phone number, email address, the address or ZIP code and the details of your project.
• A record of your agreement: the exact wording you agreed to, the time, your IP address and browser type, so we and the contractor can show what you agreed to.
• From your browser: your IP address, device and browser type, the page you came from and the ad you clicked, if any.

How we use it

• To match your request with a contractor and send it to them.
• To contact you about your request, by call, text and email, only as you agreed on the form.
• To measure and improve our advertising, and to keep the site secure.

Who gets it: we sell and share

In the last 12 months we have sold or shared these kinds of personal information: identifiers and contact details (name, phone, email, address), your project details, and your IP address and device information.

• Contractors. We sell your request to the contractors named on the form where you submitted it, up to three. They may contact you about your project.
• Other home-improvement companies. After 30 days, if your request was not taken up, we may share it with other home-improvement companies who may contact you about the same kind of project by hand-dialled call and email only. The form says so.
• Advertising platforms. We may tell the advertising platform that showed you our ad that someone asked for a quote, using an identifier and not your name, phone number or email address, so that we can measure our ads. This can count as sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising.
• Service providers that host our site, send our messages and verify your details, under contract and only for us.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

You can tell us to stop selling or sharing your personal information at any time. There are three ways, and any one is enough:

1. Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser, and we do not send advertising platforms any event about you.
2. Email us at privacy@homeanvil.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share" and the phone number or email address you used. We act on it within 15 business days and tell you when it is done.
3. Tell the contractor or us by phone, text or email that you do not want to be contacted. Reply STOP to a text. We put you on our own do-not-contact list, we stop our messages, and we pass your request on to the companies that hold your request so that they stop too, as the form you agreed to says.

Opting out stops future sales and sharing. It does not undo a request already sent to a contractor, but we ask them to stop contacting you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask us to tell you what we hold about you and who we gave it to, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to limit our use of sensitive information (we do not collect any). We will not treat you worse for asking. To ask, email privacy@homeanvil.com. We verify it is you by matching the details you give with our records, and answer within 45 days. An authorised agent may ask for you with your written permission.

Cookies and pixels

Where an advertising pixel runs on a page, the page says so. It measures our ads and shows ads to people like you. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the pixel does not run for you. You can also block cookies in your browser; the site works without them.

How long we keep it

We keep a request and the record of your agreement for as long as the law lets a contractor or we be asked to prove it, then delete or anonymise it. Asking us to delete your information removes it from our active records, except what we must keep to honour a do-not-contact request or a legal duty.
